Introduce portfolio piece (directions, reflection prompt, and rubric)


PowerPoint Presentation/Lecture:
Use the Funding Your Education PowerPoint (notes provided under each slide) to give a presentation on the different ways to pay for higher education.  Take notes on the lecture because that will help with completing the Reflection Paragraph which is the required portfolio piece.  


After completing the PowerPoint Lecture and note-taking, look at the Reflection Prompt.  Make sure you understand what is expected of you for this assignment.  Then, create a new Google Doc and name it “Ways to Pay for Higher Education - Reflection.”  Make sure that you share it with me via Google.  It is due by the end of class today.

What's the SUMMER CREW?
The Food Works Summer Crew is an 8 week volunteer leadership program. The Summer Crew is made up of 2 teams of 10 youth, aged 14-18 years old. Summer Crew Members build leadership skills by working in the community, at the Food Works Farm (a 2.5 acre organic farm on Sauvie Island), and local hunger relief organizations. In Summer Crew, you will.........
  • Work hard at the FW Farm
  • Have fun!
  • Play games
  • Create personal goals
  • Explore Sauvie Island
  • Challenge yourself to grow and build skills
  • Learn to grow and harvest vegetables
  • Receive a $600 stipend
  • Build new friends and be part of a team
  • Volunteer at Sisters of the Road CafĂ©
What are the BENEFITS?
Summer Crew Members receive a $150 stipend upon successful completion of each two weeksof the program ($600 total), a monthly Trimet bus pass, and great learning experiences!
Also, after completing Summer Crew you will be eligible for year round employment!
How do I APPLY?
Fully complete the Summer Crew Application as soon as possible! Applications are available in room B-6 and should be turned in to the Food Works office at 4610 N Trenton St.

Next Thursday is the end of Quarter 3!
