CCE Day 2

-New Seating Chart

-IMPORTANT! This Wednesday (9/2) meet in Library at 9:35am to pick up all textbooks - you must bring your Student ID

-Roses & Thorns from the first week of school/weekend

-Did you remember to get a notebook? Bring back contract?

-Review Classroom Expectations & Rules Handout together

I want you to have a say in what our classroom expectations LOOK LIKE, in other words, what you should be doing. In this activity you'll work with your table group to talk about it.

1. In table groups, assign a Materials Manager, a Recorder, a Time Keeper, and a Task Manager.

2. Materials Manager: please take one white board and a marker back to your table group

3. Brainstorm and write down ideas of what your group thinks each expectation looks like in the classroom. What should you as students do to show respect, responsibility, engagement? For example: our group feels that listening and not talking during instruction is an example of respect, or coming to CCE class with my notebook every day is being responsible.

4. I will ask each group for their best example of each expectation & we'll put them on our class poster

I need a volunteer to write on our class poster - creative types, that's you!

-Transition stretch break
...this class is "College & Career Exploration," so let's begin thinking in that direction.

-Get out a piece of lined paper and a writing utensil

Watch "What If Money Was No Object" by Alan Watts

*Name at least two claims that Mr. Watts makes

*Do you agree or disagree with his claims? Why?

*What one question does Mr. Watts say is so important to ask?

Silent writing for 10 minutes answering these three questions in paragraph form (three paragraphs when finished)

Compare answers with shoulder partner

Class discussion & idea sharing

Turn in writing as exit ticket

-IMPORTANT! Wednesday 9/2 meet in Library at 9:35am to pick up all textbooks - you must bring your Student ID
